Whoohoo! Join Me At the “Launching a Luncheon With Laughter!”
All moms are working moms, but rarely do we get the appreciation we deserve. But that’s all about to change. The Whoohoos, an exciting new St. Louis social group that supports parents, caregivers and local businesses, is here to applaud our efforts and make us feel special. “Whoohoo!â€
If you want to know what the Whoohoos is all about, plus schmooze with fabulous people, win amazing prizes, enjoy a tasty meal that you didn’t have to prepare yourself and a bit of comedy for dessert, then don’t miss their kickoff event, “Launching a Luncheon With Laughter,†on Wednesday, Feb. 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Ces & Judy’s, 10405 Clayton Road, in Frontenac’s Le Chateau.
The program will feature a ribbon cutting ceremony, entertainment by Emmy nominated actress and comedian Phyllis Shulman, an appearance by author of the popular “Brain Dead In The Burbs†series Laura Edwards Ray, a presentation by the cast of “Petalwinks: The Musical,†and an introduction from St. Charles CHILL, Professional Hockey Team.
The name and the concept behind the Whoohoos is the idea of Barbara “Babs†Conrad, a successful working mom who wanted to bring like-minded people of various backgrounds together in a fun, elegant, relaxing atmosphere that features delicious food, signature mimosas, entertaining speakers, and plenty of opportunities to network with other professionals and participate in community service projects.
“The organization got its name from the expression parents often make when their children start or end school. It could be ecstatic, excited, anxious, happy, sad, exhausted, crying, grieving, attention, hello, greeting, or even a goodbye!,†said Conrad.
That describes motherhood to a tee, sometimes all in the same hour!  But Whoohoos is not just for moms. This group welcomes moms, dads, grandparents and caregivers of children who want to make connections, have a good time, and boost each other’s success, giving a whole new meaning to business casual. After many years of climbing the corporate ladder as an executive in the insurance industry, Conrad has wanted to create a group like the Whoohoos for many years, and now the time has come.
“Life is stressful, especially for people who are taking care of children and managing their work and families,” said Conrad, who lives with her husband and three teenagers in Webster Groves. “It’s time for us to unwind, give ourselves a pat on the back, and do something good for ourselves and the community.”
The Whoohoos hosts monthly luncheons and social gatherings throughout the community and features locally recognized comedians, authors, educators, and media personalities, who exemplify the Whoohoo attitude. Everyone is invited to come as they are, from yoga pants to business suits, and meet people from a variety of backgrounds who want to cut loose for a few hours and make valuable connections.
Members can pay as they go, or save money on an annual membership, which includes these perks:
- Invitations to the monthly luncheons and social gatherings.
- Discounts from local and national retail shops, businesses, services, and restaurants.
- Quarterly newsletters and blogs to keep you up-to-date on events and self-help tips.
